Unconventional automotive challenger brand Cupra is expanding on its partnership with De Antonio Yachts, presenting its first collaboration to the world.
The two brands have worked together on the design of the D28 Formentor, a high-performance yacht inspired by the first Cupra-designed road car, the similarly named Formentor.
This showboat is a design exercise that will lay the groundwork for the launch of a limited edition of the D28 in Cupra colours and finishes that will go on sale at the end of 2021.
De Antonio Yachts D28 Formentor: Power and Luxury
The De Antonio Yachts D28 Formentor is 7.99 metres long, without the optional half-metre stern platform. The exterior design has a distinctive Petrol Blue V-shaped hull, several accents in black and carbon fibre, and a number of distinguishing copper tone elements, adding elegance and sportiness to the wheelhouse.
Powered by a 400hp engine, the D28 Formentor is capable of reaching a top speed of 40 knots, or 46mph, as well as smooth sailing at cruising speed.
A generous beam and weight distribution provide for a spacious deck and stability when anchoring, with the layout enabling users to comfortably move around the perimeter following the “walk-around” concept.
The entire deck is on the same level, divided into different sundeck areas with seating and tables both fore and aft, and includes a fully equipped bathroom. The utilisation of space offers a feeling of openness, with a capacity of up to ten people.

After enjoying the first few miles on board the De Antonio Yachts D28 Formentor, Cupra president Wayne Griffiths said: “Cupra is much more than a car brand, it’s a lifestyle. Griffiths was accompanied by De Antonio Yachts’ co-founders Marc de Antonio and Stan Chmielewski, as well as the Cupra Director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations, Antonino Labate

The De Antonio Yachts D28 Formentor is currently exhibited at Marina Vela in the port of Barcelona together with the Cupra Formentor VZ5, a special limited edition version of the high-performance crossover SUV equipped with a 390hp five-cylinder engine, of which only 7,000 units will be produced.
